Hi, I’m Ali. Welcome to Ali Haggett Kinesiology. I have a PhD in the history of medicine and have ten years’ experience as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Exeter on the history of health and wellbeing. In 2018, I embarked on an exciting journey to re-train as a kinesiologist. From my research and teaching, I’m convinced that the traditional, Western, allopathic medical model, whilst appropriate in many circumstances, cannot offer all the answers to chronic health problems. It also prioritises treatment, as opposed to prevention.

I’m keen to promote holistic, complementary health practices, alongside conventional medicine, to foster greater wellbeing and positive health. With a background in the history of health and medicine, I’m increasingly drawn to ancient Eastern and Western concepts of ‘balance’ in health, and I’m interested in distilling some of the wisdom recommended by predecessors about the importance of balance in lifestyle, rest, diet and emotions.

Media Appearances
Over the last ten years I have appeared on various documentaries on the history of mental illness, including the ITV show Tonight: The Trouble With Men and the BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are, exploring Daniel Radcliffe’s family history. I also blog and write about lifestyle medicine, health and wellbeing. I am also a Member of the Society of Authors.
